Tether has invested $20 million in the neobank Ualá as part of a $197 million funding round, according to CoinDesk. The bank serves over 11 million customers in Argentina, Mexico, and Colombia.

This investment is part of a $197 million round announced in March 2026, which values the company at $3.2 billion; Allianz X is mentioned among the associated investors. Ualá CEO Pierpaolo Barbieri stated that due to regulatory constraints, Tether is acting solely as a financial investor, meaning there will be no quick integration of USDT.
