“Transactions are proceeding as normal. If you are still experiencing issues, please refresh your app or browser window,” the developers noted.

They informed users about the issues on January 14. The cause of the outage is unknown, but the team promised to provide details of the incident in the coming days.

In light of the news, the price of the native SUI token briefly surged by 4%. However, it has since dropped by 2% over the past 24 hours, settling at $1.79.

This outage marks the second most significant disruption since the network's launch in May 2023. Sui previously faced issues in November 2024, when the blockchain failed to process blocks for two hours.

Community speculation suggests that the incident may have been caused by a DOS attack. According to the developers, the issue stemmed from a flaw in transaction scheduling logic.

Similar outages have occurred with Solana, the latest of which happened in February 2024. Developers from Laine attributed the halt to a drop in network performance, which was resolved by restarting the blockchain.

As a reminder, in November 2025, the Sui team announced the upcoming launch of the USDsui stablecoin, scheduled for release in 2026.
