Strategy (MSTR), recognized as the largest corporate bitcoin holder globally, raised its cash reserves by about $225 million last week through common stock sales, enhancing its liquidity without altering its bitcoin holdings.
Michael Saylor, the executive chairman of the company, stated on Monday that Strategy now possesses a U.S. dollar reserve totaling $3.225 billion, in addition to its 843,775 BTC holdings.
A regulatory filing revealed that the company sold more than 2.7 million MSTR shares for around $263.5 million through its at-the-market equity program.
MSTR shares saw a 1.2% increase, reaching $96 in pre-market trading, alongside a slight uptick in bitcoin prices over the weekend, which now stands at $64,700.
This update comes as Strategy focuses on replenishing its cash reserves after its complex financing model and preferred stock dividend obligations faced challenges during the recent downturn in the cryptocurrency market.
Earlier this month, the firm announced a bitcoin sale amounting to approximately $216 million, marking a significant reduction in its BTC holdings after years of consistent accumulation. Prior to this, the company greenlit a bitcoin monetization strategy allowing for the sale of up to $1.25 billion of its BTC assets to enhance cash reserves and facilitate dividend payments.
Strategy maintains its position as the world's largest corporate bitcoin holder by a substantial margin. At the current bitcoin price of $64,700, its treasury of 843,775 BTC is valued at nearly $55 billion.
