The Prosecutor General's Office in Russia has officially designated the cryptocurrency exchange WhiteBit and its associated entities as undesirable in the country. This classification indicates a significant shift in the regulatory stance towards cryptocurrency operations within Russia.
"This European cryptocurrency trading platform has been implicated in facilitating various 'gray' operations for fund withdrawals from Russia, as well as other illicit activities," the agency mentioned on its website.
As of now, WhiteBit has not released any statements in response to the announcement.
Founded in 2018 by Vladimir Nosov, WhiteBit operates out of Lithuania. This development follows earlier actions, such as the April 2025 decision by Roskomnadzor to block the domains of the crypto exchange aggregator BestChange.
