Robinhood has successfully registered to provide cryptocurrency services in the United Kingdom.

As of July 31, Robinhood’s U.K. division has been officially included in the Financial Conduct Authority’s (FCA) list of registered cryptoasset companies.

This registration confirms that Robinhood complies with the FCA's anti-money laundering (AML) standards. The current regulatory framework for crypto firms has been active since 2020 and now encompasses over 50 approved entities, including notable companies like Ripple and Kraken, as well as traditional financial institutions such as BlackRock and BNY Mellon.

Obtaining regulatory approval to operate in the crypto space has become increasingly important as the U.K. prepares to implement a more detailed regulatory framework for cryptocurrencies, set to launch in October 2027. The application process for this new framework will open at the end of September and conclude in February of the following year, just before the comprehensive regulations take effect.

The limited timeframe for companies to register and gain full regulatory approval suggests that firms already listed under the existing FCA regime might have significantly eased the process ahead of the new regulations.
