Robinhood has recently integrated approximately $25 million worth of bitcoin into its corporate balance sheet. This information was shared by Johann Kerbrat, the Senior Vice President and General Manager of Crypto and International at Robinhood, during an interview on The Starting Block broadcast at the Digital Asset Summit (DAS) Asia conference.
Kerbrat emphasized that this addition to the balance sheet underscores the company's commitment to bitcoin and its broader ecosystem. He remarked, "Robinhood is a massive company at this point, with a market cap in the $100 billion range. So the $25 million worth of bitcoin is not going to change a lot of the current trajectory of the company."
CoinDesk reached out to Robinhood's press team to inquire about any future plans for acquiring more bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies.
This strategic move places Robinhood among a growing number of public companies that are now holding bitcoin as a treasury asset. Since the trend began in 2020 with Nasdaq-listed MicroStrategy, over 170 firms globally have adopted similar strategies. Notable holders include Tesla, Block, Marathon Digital Holdings, CleanSpark, and Riot Platforms, collectively managing more than 1.2 million bitcoin on their balance sheets.
With a customer base exceeding 28 million around the world, Robinhood is no stranger to the cryptocurrency market. In July, it launched the Robinhood Chain, an Ethereum-compatible Layer 2 network built on Arbitrum, designed for tokenized real-world assets and decentralized finance applications. Since its mainnet launch, the chain has introduced tokenized stock products, a stablecoin (USDG), and yield-bearing lending through Robinhood Earn, while also integrating major DeFi protocols such as Uniswap and utilizing infrastructure from Chainlink, Alchemy, and BitGo.
