Summary
- The mobile battle royale game Pudgy Party has been discontinued.
- The Pudgy Penguins team is now concentrating on Pudgy World, a game they fully own.
- Pudgy Party was created in partnership with Mythical Games, known for FIFA Rivals.
The mobile game Pudgy Party, themed around the Pudgy Penguins, has been abruptly shut down as of Friday, less than a year after its launch, and is no longer available for download on iOS and Android platforms.
In a statement posted on the game's official X account, the brand behind the game announced the closure to refocus its efforts on Pudgy World, another game that is entirely owned by them.
According to the team, "Pudgy World is experiencing rapid growth and offers one of the most enjoyable and innovative web experiences available. Being fully owned by us, it has everything we need to become the flagship gaming product of the Pudgy Penguins universe."
Pudgy Party was co-developed with FIFA Rivals and NFL Rivals creator Mythical Games and was released globally last August. It put a unique twist on the multiplayer party game concept, akin to Fall Guys, by challenging players to navigate chaotic obstacle courses more quickly than their competitors.
While the game maintained familiar gameplay elements, it introduced a crypto aspect by allowing players to mint and trade tokenized in-game items as NFTs. With its engaging competitive gameplay, user-friendly design, and optional NFT integration, Pudgy Party was even awarded Game of the Year for 2025 by Decrypt's GG.
Despite Pudgy Penguins reporting millions of downloads and growing popularity, CEO Luca Netz informed community members on Friday that the company incurred significant losses while attempting to sustain the project, as noted in an X thread shared by a participant in the call. A spokesperson from Pudgy Penguins confirmed this information to Decrypt.

Pudgy World, referred to by its developers as the "coziest place on the internet," serves as an online playground and social space, drawing comparisons to the classic Club Penguin but featuring user-owned items that are tokenized as NFTs on Abstract, an Ethereum layer-2 network developed by the parent company of Pudgy Penguins.
Decrypt has reached out to Mythical Games for comments regarding the shutdown of Pudgy Party, but has not yet received a reply.
The Pudgy Penguins token, PENGU, has seen an increase of over 10% today, trading at a recent price of $0.0072, during a broader market recovery, although it has declined nearly 15% over the past month.
Pudgy Party is among several notable blockchain games that have shut down and halted development in 2025 and early 2026, including titles like Deadrop, Nyan Heroes, and MetalCore. Many developers have expressed concerns over decreasing player interest and challenges in securing funding to continue their projects.
On Sunday, the creators of another prominent crypto game, Fishing Frenzy on the Ethereum gaming network Ronin, announced plans to close down, with the game set to go offline on June 25. The Fishing Frenzy developers stated on X, "Despite our best efforts, we were ultimately unable to prove our thesis on crypto gaming and could not find product-market-business fit. We spent a lot of time experimenting with various directions and audiences, but the results did not provide enough confidence in a viable path forward."
