(CoinDesk)SummaryShow- Payward, the parent company of Kraken, has joined Anthropic’s Project Glasswing and will utilize Claude Mythos 5, an advanced AI model aimed at identifying and fixing software vulnerabilities.
- The firm intends to implement this model throughout its systems to detect security weaknesses proactively.
- Any vulnerabilities discovered in third-party open-source software will be reported to the respective project maintainers, potentially aiding the wider crypto community.
Payward, the parent company of Kraken, has become part of Anthropic’s Project Glasswing, gaining access to Claude Mythos 5, a sophisticated AI model that focuses on identifying and rectifying software vulnerabilities.
Project Glasswing is an initiative by Anthropic that permits select companies to utilize advanced AI models to bolster the security of essential software and infrastructure against cyber threats. This project already encompasses major tech firms like Amazon Web Services, Apple, Google, and Microsoft, alongside financial entities like JPMorgan Chase.
The company based in Wyoming announced on Monday its plans to deploy Mythos 5 across its systems within the next few weeks, with the insights contributing to its existing security framework. Payward also aims to inform project maintainers about vulnerabilities it identifies in third-party open-source software.
This initiative follows the U.S. government's decision to provide access to Mythos 5 for organizations involved in operating and defending critical infrastructure, as stated by Payward. Anthropic initiated Project Glasswing in April 2026 and has since broadened its outreach to firms in both technology and finance sectors.
As AI technology continues to evolve, it presents new challenges for cryptocurrency companies, providing attackers with enhanced tools to quickly locate vulnerabilities, automate assaults, and create more convincing phishing and social-engineering scams. This situation escalates the stakes for an industry that is already a frequent target for cybercriminals, driving a competitive race to adopt similar technologies for defense.
Claude Mythos 5 represents Anthropic’s top-tier model for cybersecurity defense, capable of analyzing code at scale to pinpoint vulnerabilities and assist developers in addressing them. Initially, access has been restricted to organizations that operate or protect critical infrastructure while Anthropic develops safeguards for a wider release.
Payward contends that cryptocurrency platforms encounter security issues akin to those faced by other critical financial infrastructures. With exchanges, custody systems, and transaction networks functioning continuously, they present enticing targets for cyber attackers.
“Security has always been an unfair game. An attacker needs to find one flaw. A defender has to find all of them, first, every single day,” remarked Arjun Sethi, co-CEO of Payward, in the announcement. “Frontier AI is the first thing that flips that asymmetry.”
Anthropic has indicated plans to broaden access to Mythos-class cybersecurity capabilities as it establishes safeguards for broader utilization.
