OpenAI has secured around 8 gigawatts (GW) of power at the PORTS-Pike Technology Campus located in Pike County, Ohio. This includes 4.25 GW with an option for an additional 3.8 GW. SB Energy is set to construct, own, and operate a data center under a 20-year lease, with the first 800 megawatts (MW) expected to come online in 2028.
NVIDIA will invest $1.5 billion into SB Energy and will serve as the exclusive supplier of AI computing infrastructure for the project. Additionally, the initiative will involve 10 GW of new generation capacity, $4.2 billion in investments for the regional power network, and an $80 million community benefits fund for the county.
