OpenAI has integrated the music recognition service Shazam into ChatGPT, allowing users to identify tracks without leaving the app.
A few months ago, Apple added support for Apple Music to the neural network, enabling users to generate playlists. Now, Shazam, which is owned by Apple, has also become part of the OpenAI ecosystem.
The tool is available in the ChatGPT mini-apps catalog. Users can ask, "Shazam, what’s playing?" or "Shazam, what song is this?" either by voice or text. The service will prompt them to enable the microphone.
After that, the platform identifies the song and displays a card with the artist's name and album cover.
No separate app installation is required. To set it up, users need to visit the page, find Shazam, and connect their account.
Once the song is identified, users can listen to a snippet or save it to their Shazam library, which requires the Shazam app to be installed.
The service is available in ChatGPT on iOS, Android, and the web version.
As a reminder, in December 2025, OpenAI launched an app store for its chatbot, allowing developers to launch their own products within the chatbot by submitting an application.
