  • The Chinese entrepreneur Miles Guo has received a 30-year sentence due to various offenses, including leading a fraudulent cryptocurrency operation.
  • Guo, who had connections to former Trump advisor Steve Bannon, was behind the creation of Himalaya Coin, or H-Coin.

A judge in the U.S. has sentenced Chinese entrepreneur Miles Guo, who was the face of the fraudulent cryptocurrency venture Himalaya Coin, to a lengthy 30-year prison term following a jury's guilty verdict in 2024 for multiple offenses.

At 55 years old, Guo, also known as Ho Wan Kwok and other aliases, was a self-exiled individual with established ties to Steve Bannon, a former advisor to President Donald Trump who has faced his own legal challenges. In 2021, Guo promoted his H-Coin token, falsely claiming it was 20% gold-backed and that it would cover all investment losses.

He reportedly amassed $500 million in investments, part of what U.S. authorities labeled "interrelated fraud schemes" conducted over five years, culminating in his conviction on charges including racketeering, fraud, and money laundering.

“Miles Guo orchestrated a vast scheme to defraud over $1 billion from thousands of Americans and victims globally through deceit and manipulation,” remarked Deputy U.S. Attorney Sean Buckley. “After coming to this country, rather than taking advantage of the legitimate opportunities available, Guo betrayed the trust of many for his own selfish gain.”

Guo, who led GTV Media Group and was arrested in 2023, has been ordered to forfeit nearly $900 million in proceeds, along with his ownership of a mansion in New Jersey and several luxury vehicles, including a Rolls Royce Phantom and a Bugatti.

Bannon, a former senior aide to Trump, was apprehended on a 150-foot yacht owned by Guo in 2020 when he faced federal charges related to a fraudulent fundraising scheme, which Trump later pardoned in 2021. Bannon was again pursued at the state level and pled guilty in 2025, managing to avoid jail time.
