“The dead cat continues to bounce,” noted investor Jason Calacanis as Bitcoin climbed back to the $80,000 mark on Friday.

“What is Bitcoin, 17 years later?”

Calacanis expressed skepticism, suggesting that Bitcoin lacks efficiency for transactions and smart contracts, presents a challenging user experience, and has faded from the public's interest.

“If it comes up at the dinner party,” Calacanis remarked, “it's followed by a hearty ‘remember that!’”

He further stated, “People expect Bitcoin to be stable and recognize that it’s not a quick path to riches anymore. It’s become boring … Advocates have transitioned from being rebels to corporate types in orange ties, awkwardly sharing memes — just like the mainstream does!”

“If Bitcoin were poised for mass adoption and significant use cases, it would have already demonstrated that,” he concluded.

‘Preserving wealth across generations’

In response, Michael Saylor stated, “You’ve observed Bitcoin’s evolution since 2011. It has now become a $1.6 trillion success and is the leading digital asset globally.”

“Digital Capital is the transformative application,” Saylor added. “The goal of preserving wealth through generations is a far more significant ambition than merely making small talk at a dinner gathering.”

“The orange tie stays.”
