The Ethereum-based MegaETH L2 project has launched its mainnet. The rollup is marketed as a "real-time blockchain," aiming for a throughput of 100,000 TPS and near-instant transaction finality.

As of this writing, over 50 applications are operational on the network.
The ecosystem's underlying token, MEGA, will not be fully unlocked with the mainnet launch. The distribution and implementation of the asset will occur gradually, tied to the blockchain's development stages.
Another key component of economic activity is the stablecoin USDm, supported by all major applications. The MegaETH Foundation plans to direct all revenues from the coin's use towards buying back and accumulating MEGA.
In March 2025, the project launched a public testnet with a claimed speed of 20,000 TPS. According to the developers, the network achieved the desired block processing time of 10 ms.
In October, the team conducted an ICO, raising a total of $1.39 billion from the token sale. Demand significantly outstripped supply: 11,534 wallets contributed $300 million against a limit of $50 million, resulting in a 27x oversubscription.
It’s worth noting that the launch of the MegaETH pre-deposit campaign in November encountered technical issues. The project attracted $500 million instead of the planned $250 million due to a loss of control over the smart contract management.
