MARA Holdings has transferred around 996 BTC, valued at approximately $81.13 million, to an address associated with Galaxy Digital, as reported by Lookonchain.
While this transfer has taken place, it does not necessarily indicate that Galaxy Digital has made a purchase.
Once focused solely on bitcoin mining, MARA has broadened its scope to include artificial intelligence and high-performance computing infrastructure. The company has been divesting parts of its substantial bitcoin treasury to enhance its financial standing and support its new strategic direction. Earlier this year, MARA sold 15,133 BTC for about $1.1 billion, primarily to facilitate the repurchase of convertible debt.
As of February 26, MARA held 53,822 BTC according to historical data from Bitcoin Treasuries. However, this number has decreased to 35,577 BTC by August 7 as the company has reduced its debt and shifted focus toward AI infrastructure.
In pre-market trading on Friday, MARA shares rose by 2% to $10, coinciding with bitcoin's recent recovery above $82,000.
