On June 14, Israel's Innovation Authority and the Ministry of Defense's Directorate of Defense Research and Development announced the opening of applications for the creation of R&D infrastructure in integrated photonics, with a budget of up to 150 million shekels.
The project aims to accelerate the development and commercialization of photonic chips: the selected site must cover the entire cycle—from design and modeling to prototyping, testing, packaging, and supporting the transition to mass production. The infrastructure should be established within a maximum of 18 months, with some services expected to launch within 12 months after project approval.
