IonQ has finalized its acquisition of cybersecurity firm Elisity for $1.15 billion, a strategic move aimed at enhancing its quantum security offerings.
The acquisition, announced in October, was settled through IonQ stock. Additionally, the former Elisity shareholders could earn up to $150 million based on the company achieving specific revenue targets by January 2028.
“Security has always been about protecting what matters most, and quantum makes that more urgent,” said IonQ in a statement. They emphasized the immediacy of networking security as the quantum computing era approaches.
Elisity specializes in Zero Trust cybersecurity solutions, where access is not granted merely based on network presence but requires a thorough risk assessment of users and devices. Their platform has over 100 corporate implementations and aims to identify connected devices and manage network risks.
