Hut 8 has successfully secured the auction for two data centers from the bankrupt mining pool Poolin in Texas, with a winning bid of $140 million. This amount is nearly three times the initial asking price of $52 million. The acquisition is pending approval from the bankruptcy court.
This purchase will enhance Hut 8's infrastructure as the company shifts its focus from Bitcoin mining to artificial intelligence computing and high-performance computing (HPC). Poolin filed for bankruptcy in July, reporting liabilities of approximately $173 million.
