The banking giant HSBC has entered into a multi-year partnership with Google Cloud to integrate artificial intelligence into its global operations. The focus will be on utilizing Google DeepMind's Gemini models.
As part of this collaboration, the bank plans to launch over 200 AI use cases within two years. HSBC estimates this will generate more than $100 million through revenue growth and process optimization.
The project will cover three key areas:
- Capital Management. Personalized advice for clients based on AI analytics.
- Combating Financial Crimes. Implementing generative AI to quickly identify suspicious transactions. The bank aims to respond to threats twice as fast.
- Employee Assistance. Expanding the capabilities of an AI assistant that reduces meeting preparation time from hours to minutes.
HSBC CEO Georges Elhedery noted that the technology will enable a scalable personalized approach to clients while maintaining human oversight.
Currently, more than 600 of the bank's applications are running on Google Cloud's infrastructure. The new agreement will expand this stack with the Gemini Enterprise agent platform.
It’s worth mentioning that in May, Google introduced Gemini 3.5 Flash — "the most powerful AI model in programming and agent creation."
