GlobalFoundries has reached an agreement with the U.S. Department of Commerce to receive up to $375 million through the CHIPS program. The funding will be utilized to enhance its Quantum Technology Solutions division and establish a domestic manufacturing base for quantum chips. The company aims to expand production from research prototypes to full-scale manufacturing, employing cryogenic CMOS technology, advanced packaging, and 3D integration. This financing is set to span five years and is contingent upon meeting specific milestones.
