Cursor has launched the third version of its AI editor, featuring a revamped interface designed for managing AI-based agents.

“Introducing Cursor 3 — a unified workspace for development with agents. The new interface makes the operation of AI assistants more transparent, elevating the user to a higher level of abstraction,” the announcement states.

The software allows users to run multiple digital assistants locally in the cloud. Task progress can be monitored through a new sidebar menu, and agents generate demos and screenshots of their work for clarity.

Developers have added a quick-switch feature between modes. Users can transfer sessions from their computer to the cloud, enabling the virtual assistant to continue working even after the device is turned off. This is particularly effective for long tasks that are typically interrupted when a laptop is closed. The reverse transfer allows users to continue testing and editing code on their local PC.

The new change-view interface enables faster editing and review of modifications. Users can dive into the code at any time by viewing necessary files and navigating to definitions directly within the editor.

The built-in browser allows Cursor to open and interact with local websites. Additionally, hundreds of plugins are available to expand the capabilities of agents, which can be installed with a single click.

It’s worth noting that in January, a vulnerability was discovered in the Cursor AI editor that allowed for the takeover of PC control.
