In the first half of 2026, crypto projects lost approximately $972 million due to 207 incidents, according to Immunefi. While the number of attacks reached a record high, losses significantly decreased compared to 2025. Experts note that the average loss per hack is declining.
DeFi losses fell by 74% from the peak in 2022, dropping from $2.62 billion to $680.3 million. This decrease is attributed to bug bounty rewards, audits, and an increasing number of specialists in the field.
The main risks have shifted from smart contract vulnerabilities to infrastructure failures, private key compromises, and errors in cross-chain configurations.
