Coinkite has rolled out security updates for its Coldcard hardware wallets. These firmware enhancements address issues beyond the initial vulnerability related to seed phrase generation, which was patched in an emergency update at the end of July. The changes focus on improving the random number generator, transaction verification, data handling, and backup processes.
The developers emphasized the importance of creating new seed phrases and transferring funds, as the existing ones remain compromised. Previously, Galaxy Research estimated the confirmed damage from the exploit at 1,778 BTC (approximately $112 million).
