On September 18, Coinbase submitted an application to the Commodity Futures Trading Commission for the introduction of perpetual futures on individual stocks in the United States. These contracts will enable traders to gain exposure to stock prices without the need to purchase the actual shares, allowing for trading five days a week.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Coinbase plans to roll out approximately 50 to 60 contracts initially, including major companies such as Apple, Microsoft, Tesla, and Nvidia. Unlike traditional futures, these new instruments will not have an expiration date.
