Coinbase has introduced tokenized stocks on its Layer 2 network, Base, targeting users outside the United States. Initially, fractional shares of Apple and Nvidia are available. Each token represents a direct claim to an actual share, which is held by the regulated broker and custodian Alpaca.

Users can store these assets in non-custodial wallets, trade them on Aerodrome, or utilize them as collateral on Aave. In the coming weeks, Coinbase intends to expand its offerings with additional stocks and tokenized real-world assets.
