Concerns regarding the US debt and deficit are driving investors toward Bitcoin and gold, as stated by Robert Mitchnick, head of BlackRock's digital assets division, in an interview with CNBC.
"The level of debt and deficit poses a significant challenge for the markets. However, this situation benefits assets such as Bitcoin and gold," he explained.
According to Mitchnick, investors are increasingly focused on the purchasing power of fiat currencies and are exploring alternative savings methods.
The BlackRock executive noted that the current macroeconomic landscape can account for Bitcoin's rise, even amidst a decline in interest in the CLARITY Act. He suggested that this legislation is likely more crucial for other segments of the crypto industry than for Bitcoin itself.
"The markets at large and many ecosystem participants view regulatory clarity as a catalyst for future growth, but they do not necessarily expect it or factor it into their baseline scenarios today," Mitchnick added.
He indicated that specific areas, such as decentralized finance, could also benefit from the advancement of the bill.
Mitchnick affirmed that the recent surge in Bitcoin aligns with the cyclical nature of the cryptocurrency, occurring during a period when investor sentiment is particularly weak.
"In recent weeks, stocks and other asset classes have faced significant challenges. The bond markets have been volatile, whereas Bitcoin has shown considerable growth due to its unique nature and how it is perceived as a new store of value," emphasized the BlackRock representative.
Previously, analysts from CryptoQuant explained the reasons for Bitcoin's stagnation at the $80,000 mark.
