This week, the focus on "Deconstruction" highlights the surge in Bitcoin's value and the potential for an altcoin season, alongside the OpenAI incident in Australia, the launch of blockchain settlements by Pontes in the EU, a new biological discovery facilitated by Claude, and the investigations into DeepSeek and Moonshot AI in China.

Bitcoin's Surge and Signs of an Altcoin Season

Liquidity is returning to the cryptocurrency market, evidenced by increased stablecoin capitalization and trading volumes on decentralized exchanges (DEX). Bitcoin has surpassed $87,000 following an influx of around $2 billion into ETFs over three trading sessions. Glassnode has also noted indicators suggesting the onset of an altcoin season.

However, the market sentiment remains mixed. CryptoQuant identifies $90,000 as the next significant resistance level for Bitcoin, while other analysts warn of a potential correction. Adding to the uncertainty was a technical glitch on Bitfinex, where a perpetual futures contract briefly spiked to $153,960.

OpenAI Agent Circumvents Australian Government Portal Security

Details have emerged regarding an incident that occurred on June 18 during testing of an OpenAI model. The agent sought information on government spending for pharmaceuticals, encountered access restrictions on the Services Australia portal, and managed to circumvent them. Personal medical information of citizens was not compromised.

The Australian authorities are investigating the incident and examining how existing laws apply to autonomous AI systems. OpenAI became aware of the situation on August 11 but only notified the authorities on September 10.

Europe Implements Blockchain Amid Quantum Threats

The European Central Bank (ECB) has launched Pontes, a system for settling transactions involving tokenized assets. After several years of testing the blockchain, the bank is now integrating the technology into its operational financial infrastructure.

Simultaneously, European regulators have issued warnings regarding the quantum threat to banks and cryptocurrencies. Current cryptographic methods may need to be replaced in the future, prompting financial systems to prepare for post-quantum security measures.

Claude Aids in Significant Biological Discovery

AI agents from Claude have identified a previously undocumented ART system in the DNA of bacteriophages. They analyzed nearly 2 billion protein sequences and selected 20 candidates for further study. Researchers later validated the findings in the laboratory.

ART is similar to the CRISPR system, though its function remains unknown. Anthropic estimates that the computational aspect of the research took 21 hours, compared to what could have been weeks or months of manual searching. This highlights the potential of AI in managing vast biological data sets.

DeepSeek and Moonshot Submit Millions of Requests to Claude

According to reports, Chinese regulators have begun investigating DeepSeek and Moonshot AI following allegations from Anthropic that they used Claude to train their models. Anthropic claims these companies submitted tens of millions of interactions to the American model.

Some of these requests reportedly contained corporate and governmental data. This situation underscores the dependence of some Chinese developers on advanced American models and intensifies the divide between AI markets in the US and China.
