  • Leumi customers will be able to buy, hold, and sell bitcoin, ether, and solana through the Leumi Trade app.
  • Galaxy will supply the trading and custody infrastructure, with the service set to launch in early 2027.
  • This initiative makes Bank Leumi the first bank in Israel to provide direct digital asset trading to its customers.

Bank Leumi, the largest bank in Israel, is set to introduce cryptocurrency trading for customers starting in early 2027, marking a first for Israeli banks.

Clients of Leumi and its digital banking division, Pepper, will have the ability to trade bitcoin BTC$62,880.24, ether ETH$1,875.38, and solana (SOL) through a dedicated section of the Leumi Trade app, as stated in a recent announcement.

Galaxy Digital (GLXY) will facilitate the trading operations through its GalaxyOne Institutional platform, designed for banks and asset managers. Additionally, Leumi has partnered with Galaxy for its custody services, previously known as GK8, to support this offering.

This collaboration not only provides Galaxy with a banking ally in Israel but also aligns Leumi with a trend of financial institutions integrating crypto services into their platforms. By incorporating trading features within its capital-markets app, Leumi aims to attract clients who prefer a regulated banking environment over independent crypto exchanges.

Maya Ravia, Leumi’s strategy head, emphasized the growing importance of digital assets in the global financial landscape. Galaxy Israel CEO Lior Lamesh noted that early adopters among banks could play a crucial role in shaping the transition to an open, programmable financial infrastructure.

Details regarding the commercial terms, fees, or customer eligibility criteria have not been disclosed by the companies. CoinDesk has reached out to Bank Leumi for additional comments.
