Siri AI Features
The revamped Siri is positioned as a crucial element of Apple Intelligence, integrating seamlessly across devices and services. The new assistant can leverage user context, comprehend on-screen content, and execute tasks like drafting emails and sharing photos.
In demonstrations, Siri showcased its ability to maintain conversations and handle follow-up questions in a chatbot-like manner, while also executing actions across various applications. A dedicated Siri app will store conversation history and sync it via iCloud, allowing users to transition conversations across devices.
Operating on a new AI architecture, Siri combines on-device models with Private Cloud Compute for more complex requests, ensuring that processed data remains private. Apple is also collaborating with external AI developers, integrating tools like OpenAI's ChatGPT and Google's Gemini into its offerings.
Safari and OS Enhancements
The Siri rollout is part of a broader enhancement of Apple Intelligence across products. Safari will now employ AI to sort browser tabs by topic, monitor webpages for changes, and generate extensions based on natural language. The Passwords app will help navigate websites and strengthen weak passwords.
Updates to Photos include advanced editing tools and a new Image Playground for generating photorealistic images, which will be marked to indicate their AI-generated nature. Additional functionalities will be available in Messages, Mail, Calendar, and other applications, enhancing user interactions and automations.
Siri's visual capabilities are also set to expand, enabling iPhones to analyze images and respond to queries about various subjects. This feature will be extended to iPad, Mac, and Vision Pro, allowing users to search visual content and interact with displayed information on their devices.
Developers can access Siri AI for testing through Apple's Developer Program, with a beta version launching later this year in English. However, it will not be available at launch for iPhone and iPad users in the European Union and will remain inaccessible in China due to regulatory issues.
