Anthropic has turned Claude into an AI agent, enabling the bot to use a computer to perform tasks.

You can now enable Claude to use your computer to complete tasks.

It opens your apps, navigates your browser, fills in spreadsheets—anything you'd do sitting at your desk.

Users can issue commands to the digital assistant even from their phones. It can open applications on the computer, manage the browser, and fill in spreadsheets.

In one example, a user was running late for a meeting. They asked Claude to export a presentation to PDF and attach it to the invitation. The chatbot completed the task successfully.

“Send a prompt from your phone, do something else, and then return to the completed work on your computer. Just ask Claude to check your email every morning or generate a report on Fridays—he'll take care of it,” Anthropic's website states.

The company cautioned that using the computer is still in its early stages compared to Claude's capabilities in programming or text processing.

“The chatbot can make mistakes. While we continue to improve safety measures, threats are constantly evolving,” said representatives of the startup.

According to Anthropic, the computer functionality is implemented with "minimized risks." Claude always requests permission to access new applications.

Before executing a task, Claude presents a plan and waits for approval. At any stage, users can clarify the task or choose a different approach.

The service is available in Claude Cowork and Claude Code (macOS only). To use it, you need to access the Cowork section.

As a reminder, in March, Claude from Anthropic topped the list of free apps in the US App Store, pushing OpenAI's ChatGPT to second place.
