Meltem Demirors, the founder of Crucible, stated that Bitcoin laid the groundwork for the current boom in AI infrastructure; however, the primary product of computation has shifted from cryptocurrency to "intelligence". She emphasized that today, trillions of dollars are being invested in AI.
Demirors cited examples such as CoreWeave, which started with Ethereum mining, and Crusoe, which mined Bitcoin using associated gas. She expressed concern that the shift of miners towards AI and high-performance computing poses a genuine risk to Bitcoin's security. Nevertheless, she noted that the difficulty adjustment mechanism allows the network to adapt to the loss of computational power.
